recovery

may be its a product of being "mature" (48) but I suspect that recovery can take an unusual course.  i trained hard on Saturday (long rather than intense) and then on Sunday was up for another bike ride.  just the weather that stopped me from going out.

anyway, today I'm much more tired - despite doing nothing yesterday.  which is weird - shouldn't i be tired straight after the training?

i've had this before.  seems like the initial reaction to a tough workout is to prepare for another one, or at least release energy in readiness for more of the same.  then, once its clear there isn't another, similar workout coming, the body gives way to recovery mode.  and this process takes 36 hours to go through.

can mean extra care needed when you are doing a series of hard workouts - the initial reaction may be to feel great straightaway afterwards - but it might be a mistake to pile on some more training load.  you may actually be over-cooked and later on the real impact of the hard session will become apparent.

just my observation/experience...
