Changes at the Giro Time Trial

This was the "wine stage" celebrating the local Barolo wine with a 46km time trial, and it has led to changes in the top ten of the 2014 Giro.

Most obvious is Cadel Evans losing the leadership of the race, and Rigoberto Uran taking over responsibilities at the top.  Rigoberto did a storming TT to come home first with a time 1min 17sec ahead of 2nd place Diego Ulissi.  Cadel lost 1min 34sec and the pink jersey.

Behind this pair the next two GC people kept their position but lost time.  Meantime Wilco Kelderman and Nario Quintana have both climbed 2 places to 5th and 6th respectively, though again have actually lost time to the top contendors.  Nario started the day 1min 45sec down on Cadel, but finishes 3min 29sec down to Rigoberto.

Steve Morabito and Fabio Aru lost places and time.  Wouter Poels entered the top ten having started the day 12th.

Big drop of the day was Ivan Basso who crashed, punctured and changed bike - he drops out to 11th with 5min+ to his name, having started just 2min down on Cadel.  Tweeting wince-inducing pic of his injuries.

Overall, the top 2 are closer than this morning (0.57sec then v. 0.37sec now) and everyone else is further away...
