No survey hills in Surrey can start anywhere but the Olympic road race featured climb of Box Hill.
First thing to say is how super-smooth the road is (2/4/13) - all a product of its recent Olympic role no doubt - but certainly welcome and makes the usual experience of broken-surfaced, gravel/pot hole climbs seem all the harder.
Reputation or "name" made me cautious of this hill but it went on up at a very steady 6% - so much so that I was holding something back for when it surprised me with a final steep bit. But no, the last corner came and suddenly and easily I was at the top and coasting into the cafe area - easy-peasy.
Still loads of GB orientated road graffiti plus what I recall is a special piece of road art - Richard Long's Road River piece - which was still in good nick.
Overall - 100 Greatest Climbs gives it 3 out of 10 which is probably right (and about the lowest score in the book).
