Here's a slightly different way of doing an Italian bike - get yourself measured in the UK then have the frame made in Italy. Means you can take advantage of a hand-built Italian frame without having to go all the way to Italy (there are positives and negatives to that one).
Racer Rosa are based in London, offer different "levels" of fitting and even have an Italian expert bike fitter coming over once a week to do the top end measurements. The bikes are then made in Italy at the Taverna family-run frame building workshop - lots of photos of a visit are here (with Italian commentary).
