Here at Rideventures Towers I've had time to sift through the archives to re-visit some past events. First up is the inaugural "Tour d'Arts Alive" sportive in June 2015.
This was the first sportive I'd ever organised - ridden lots, including Italian Gran Fondos, so I knew how they should work...
2 routes offered - a very short one and then a 60miler with 3 difficult climbs (including Weston Bank). People returned complimenting the route - very few cars in the lanes and with these significant challenges. Both routes finished with a long, sweeping descent back to the start so people completed with a smile.
I'd planned the route after several years of cycling around the area with a group based in Church Stretton - the Thursday Ride. Some of our rides on Thursdays were used to explore parts of the route. It meant I could get their reactions to the conditions and the challenges, and refine the event path further.
