London training no.4 - Haverstock Hill

Start by Chalk Farm tube station

Different kind of hill - not steep but long, and can be very busy.  Probably best to attempt it early Sunday morning - and you'll still need to time your approach to pedestrian crossings and traffic lights to avoid unclipping.

Only try this climb on early Sunday mornings - too busy rest of time

The Strava segment says 2.3km but you can turn right at the segment end and carry on right up to the top of Hampstead Heath.

The gradient varies and you can go for it and then have time to regret using up all your energy - good for sustained climbing effort training, and for psychological "keeping going" training.

Turn right at the T-junction and continue up for more training effect

Haverstock Hill is different from Swains Lane - that one is much more of a strength test - Haverstock is about going for it and then keeping going.
